Attention Lawyers Only!
Think like a Hacker for Data Defense!
Tips to Protecting Your Law Firm
Hacking – def. – manipulating a system to do something it was not designed to do.
More and more law firms are dependent upon technology solutions that are connected to the cloud (the Internet). How do you trust the cloud when everywhere we turn we are reading about the latest security threat or worse experiencing a virus attack ourselves? The key is to think like a hacker! If you understand what motivates a hacker and what they are looking for, then you can put measures into place to safeguard your firm’s network and your client’s data.
It’s time to get hacking – I mean cracking! Please join Eric M. Shorr, President of Secure Future Tech Solutions on Wednesday, March 23rd for a FREE Lunch and Learn. This workshop is good for 1 CEU.
Topics Include:
- What motivates a hacker? What vulnerabilities is a hacker looking for when attacking a network?
- Know the threats entering your network: What is the difference between a virus, malware and phishing attacks?
- Knowledge is key: How can you safeguard your client data and network against an attack?
- Analyze actual “phishing” emails and determine why false.
- Support for Windows XP and Server 2003 has terminated: If you still run either of these, your firm could be a prime target!
- Legal Document Transfers: How to share client information via the cloud safely.
- The dangers on your desk: Threats are not just in the cloud! Our desks pose risks too! i.e. unencrypted thumb drives, smart devices, laptops, passwords. We will review a typical work environment and point its various vulnerabilities!
Workshop Handouts:
- Sample Workstation Security Policy – Sample of how a law firm begins to put policies in place to safeguard client data?
- A Think Like a Hacker Checklist – A summary overview of presentation.
- Sample phishing email from PayPal. A real example of the types of threats that enter a law office daily and how to react to it.
